Needmore is arguing that House Bill 3405 prohibits contested cases. In other words, TESPA should not be allowed to protest Needmore's application. TESPA has sent BSEACD a letter in response to this argument. The BSEACD Board will consider Needmore's argument at their meeting tomorrow night (Thursday 1/12 at 6:00 PM). Please attend and voice your concern that affected landowners be given the opportunity to protect their property rights.

Needmore Ranch, a 5000 acre ranch adjacent to Montesino Ranch in Wimberely, has applied to the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSEACD) for a groundwater production permit for approximately 289,000,000 gallons of groundwater a year.

BSEACD has issued a proposed permit to Needmore Ranch to pump over 289,000,000 gallons of groundwater a year from the Trinity Aquifer. We need your help to ensure that our groundwater resources are protected!

Last week TESPA and DSWSC reached agreement on TESPA's contested case against DSWSC's permit amendment. We are looking forward to working with DSWSC and HTGCD to ensure that the Trinity Aquifer is sustainably managed.

Update on TESPA's contested case related to DSWSC's request to increase its production permitt: TESPA and DSWSC have reached a tentative agreement but are still discussing details related to a settlement. The HTGCD board granted the parties request for a continuance until the next board meeting. TESPA is working to ensure that any agreement we make with DSWSC adequately protects groundwater resources in the Trinity.
